France
is the largest nation in Western Europe, covering an
area nearly the size of Texas with a population of 60
million people. France boasts a varied terrain and
a temperate climate.
The
French Republic comprises metropolitan France, along
with four overseas departments - Guadeloupe, Martinique,
Guyane (French Guiana) and Réunion. France's
influence is felt throughout the French-Speaking world -
nearly 300 million people located principally in Europe,
the Arab world, Africa, and Canada.
Since
prehistoric times, France has been a crossroads of
trade, travel and conquest. The French culture is
vast and rich, built from fine cuisine, the trauma of
two world wars, the art of the Impressionists, the
grandeur of royalty, the technology of the Concorde, the
campaigns of Napoleon, and so much more.
France
is a secular state, but religion has historically been a
major part of the culture. Today, about 80% of the
population consider themselves Roman Catholic, but less
than 8% regularly practice their faith. In recent
years, however, there has been a growing interest among
the French in things spiritual, which has opened the
door to Apostolic Revival!
The
United Pentecostal Church of France has over 1,000
constituents, with local assemblies in Arras, Beausoleil, Bordeaux, Châtellerault,
Épinay-sur-Seine, Longwy, Melun,
Ostricourt, Paris, Toulon, Troyes, and Villiers-le-Bel.
