Joyeux Noël
Dear
Friends & Partners,
We want to take the
occasion of this newsletter to wish all of you a very
Merry Christmas, and share a little about how the
holiday is celebrated in France.
Christmas in France is
very much a family celebration. Traditionally,
families stay up late on Christmas Eve to attend a
Midnight Service and share a lavish feast called
le réveillon. Typical foods are pâté
de foie gras, oysters, turkey, and la
bûche de Noël - a chocolate covered cake in the
form of a log. Churches display elaborate Nativity
scenes, and children leave out shoes, rather than
stockings, to receive gifts from Père Noël
(Father Christmas).
While the traditions are
colorful and the customs are charming, the true meaning
of Christmas is found in the life-changing power of the
gospel. At the recent Youth Convention in France,
over 900 people experienced this power as nearly 30 new
believers received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost, and
many others were healed. Bro. Nowacki reports that
all of the churches in France are in revival, and that
new believers are being baptized every week!
While revival is spreading
in France, we are continuing to make good progress on
our budget. We spent the past month in Wisconsin
and Illinois, where we made several new friends and
partners. We have now raised 81% of our budget,
and are anticipating our return to France this summer.
Thank you
for your faithful support. Your
partnership is the key to our success.
Yours
for France,
The Schoberts
