25 Years of UPC in France

Centre Evangélique LE ROCHER

Centre Evangélique LE ROCHER
Melun, France

Dear Friends & Partners,

This month, the United Pentecostal Church of France celebrates it's 25th Anniversary!

The UPC of France (Fédération des Eglises Pentecôtistes Unies de France) traces it's roots to 1930, when evangelist John Balca of Yugoslavia brought the Apostolic Message to a mining community near Douai, in the north of France.  After hearing the Gospel, believers came to the banks of the canal to be baptized in Jesus Name.  The Lord poured out his spirit, and as a result, a number of evangelical churches were born.

Twenty years later, once again the flame of apostolic revival ignited in northern France.  People hungry for the presence of God met in homes for all-night prayer meetings, interceding for the nation of France.  During this time, Jean-Claude Nowacki was born into one of the families who had originally received the Apostolic Message from John Balca.

Years later, Jean-Claude Nowacki met and married Anne, the daughter of John Balca.  While living in Canada, they felt the burden to continue the work of evangelism in France.  They arrived back in France under missionary appointment in October 1977.  Then, in January 1979, they established the first United Pentecostal Church in the city of Melun, 30 miles southeast of Paris.  This event marked the birth of the United Pentecostal Church in France.

From that first congregation in Melun, the United Pentecostal Church of France has grown into a federation of 12 national churches, 28 licensed ministers, a Bible School, and over 1,000 constituents.  Three missionary families are now serving in France:  Jean & Anne Nowacki, Paul & Darla Brochu, and Steve & Kristin Schobert.

The first 25 years of the United Pentecostal Church in France have been marked by tremendous revival and explosive growth.  But we believe that even greater revival lies ahead!  It is a national vision to see a United Pentecostal Church planted in each of France's 22 Regions, and then in each of her 95 Departments.

Thank you for your faithful support.  Because of your partnership, we are a part of the vision and effort to reach this nation with the Apostolic Message.

Yours for France,

The Schoberts
Steve, Kristin, Steven II, & Rachel
